Pretty fair assessment I'd say. I also think Lando is inherently quicker than Piastri, but he still has problems with being consistent and delivering under pressure!14-05-2025 01:13

Thanks! Have to give credit to the person (I dont remember exactly who it was) who explained it along these lines earlier.13-05-2025 18:20

Maybe literally sure, but it is very clear what is meant by this. Someone explained it earlier as that it is to be expected that a professional F1 driver can extract for example 95% of the potential of the car on average, taking into account small/big mistakes, taking less risks under pressure, etc. Underperformers are maybe more around the 90% level and dont live up to the potential/standard of the car. Max on the other hand always gets (as an example) 98-99% out of the car, whoch is better than can be expected based on the 95% standard. I dont even think 100% is very achievable, since I wonder if the 100% perfect lap even exists. This is what is meant by these comments. Max is getting more from the car than what is to be expected and based of what others are doing. Saying Max is outperforming the car, or is going over the limits of the car, is a hell of a lot easier than explaining the above..13-05-2025 15:44

"Verstappen 'can drive over and above what the car can deliver'" Watch out now Rob! Even though you are the gazzillionth person stating this, Legend will get mad at you for this being 'not possible'! 😉13-05-2025 15:05

The fact is...Oscar cant 'beat' Max' timeline, even if he wins the next 4 WDC...which he won't... 😄13-05-2025 10:42

Hahahaha okay! 😄 That is indeed funny coming from you, since you usually prefer opinion over facts! 😉 But factually, if you take Max' first two seasons and Oscar's, then Oscar indeed got more points! When we consider that Max was 17-18 years old and Oscar 22-23, and Max was driving at mid-field Toro Rosso (and half a season Red Bull), compared to Oscar who had 1 season of the most dominant car, that narrative becomes very different obviously! 😄 Btw...hasnt Oscar been beaten by his teammates like...ALL...his seasons in F1 so far?12-05-2025 17:40

Oscar doesn't even come close to being a generational talent...sorry! But nice to hear you found some new fandom! 👍🏼 Btw, I haven't done the research on if Leclerc, Russell or Bortoleto won a 3rd championship before F2/F3, but I'm fairly sure one of them have. Its also appels and oranges since F2/F3 aren't around for too long, so hard to compare with the greats from the past. Anyways, I haven't seen much from Piastri to consider him better than Leclerc, Russell, let alone Max and Lewis. Also, you throw the 'generational talent' lable around like it's nothing 😄 Didn't you label Kimi as one as well? 😄 Then we also have Max, who is a proven generational talent. Thats not how it works mate...12-05-2025 15:16

Lol....now you are REALLY reaching haha. Oscar a generational talent? 🤣 The list of drivers that won F3 and F2 back to back (and usually some junior series before that as well) is not even that special on the current grid, since 4 drivers (almost 25%) achived it! --> If I remember correctly, on the current grid Russell, Leclerc and Bortoleto all did the same.... Btw, Oscar is well in to his 3rd season already, havent you been paying attention(?), and he is not even that young anymore... No matter what happens, Max still won his first title at a younger age than Piastri. Anyways, not trying to dig at Oscar, he is doing well and doing what he is supposed to do in this car, while Lando is not. However, IF Lando figures it out, he is the quicker driver compared to Oscar. Oscar is just much better mentally!12-05-2025 00:24
